About Mercado Nocturno de Nahuizalco
The Mercado Nocturno de Nahuizalco is one of El Salvador's most unique and atmospheric food experiences — a centuries-old night market lit entirely by candles and oil lamps, rooted in the Náhuatl-Pipil indigenous tradition. Every evening from 5pm, the plaza fills with vendors serving rare traditional dishes that are nearly impossible to find elsewhere: ticucos (corn masa with beans and alguashte), tayuyos (made with maicillo), tamales de chipilín, chanfaina, atol de piñuela, and exotic pupusas filled with tenquique mushrooms. A living piece of Salvadoran cultural heritage.
